Mesmerica

Happy Wednesday! Chelsea here.

We're taking another trip outside of I-270 my friends. Scouting Suburbia is back and this time, it is Grove City's chance to shine. I grew up in the area and I'll be the first to admit that it was a haven for chain restaurants back in the day. It still is a little bit, but that doesn't mean there aren't some seriously delicious local gems waiting for you to check them out. From donuts to hibachi, we've got a lot of eating to do.

Navigator Originals ✏️

Ready for a candlelit stroll through Franklin Park Conservatory? Pumpkin Nights start this Thursday, promising glowing pumpkin-lit paths, jack-o-lanterns, and even an aerial and fire show. Who's going? πŸ™‹β€β™€οΈ

I'm a sucker for a good urban legend. This stone tower has gained quite a reputation through the years, but the truth behind the mystery "Frankenstein's Castle" isn't what you'd expect.

Talking Points ❀️

Panaderia Mi Pueblo 🍩

Ahh, I love this bakery inside Saraga Market on Morse Rd, and I'm so happy to see it lovingly covered by Breakfast With Nick. Check out the gorgeous photos (so many beautiful giant donuts!) and plan a visit some time, you won't regret it.

The Purge πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

Even as someone who has followed this story fairly closely, I still felt so many moments of surprise reading this article. The executive director of the League of Women Voters purged after voting three times last year. The fact that every one of Ohio's 88 counties uses a different method for identifying people to remove from voter rolls. 20,000 active voters set to be purged from Democratic Franklin County. There's a great deal to think about and takeaway from this article.

Wrapping Up National Coverage For The Debate πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

It's been unusual to have so much national attention for central Ohio this week. New York Times, host of the Otterbein debate, has been publishing prodigiously. Their last two central Ohio articles for you:

"As the presidential debate comes to Ohio, the students in a local chapter of the Young Democratic Socialists of America are defining their political identity."

"Unemployment is down and wages are inching up. But in a state becoming less dependent on manufacturing, people wonder where the well-paying jobs will come from."
