Navigator Originals โ๏ธEarn Your Turkey: 7 Thanksgiving Races Around ColumbusMaybe you have a tradition of doing a race on Thanksgiving morning, or perhaps you are thinking of starting one this year. Either way, we have you covered with the 7 best options for pre-working off the food you'll be eating later in the day. My recommendation: the Columbus Turkey Trot, a fun course that takes you on a nice out and back around West Campus at OSU, with a start and finish in Upper Arlington. Odds are also pretty good that you'll win a pumpkin pie (the first 2100 finishers get one.)
Around Town ๐Election results are in, and voters displayed their happiness with the status quo in Columbus. All incumbents were re-elected in the city council and Columbus City School board races. Yes We Can candidates didn't fare horribly, garnering 55,000 votes for city council split between Will Petrik and Jasmine Ayres, but I always had the sense having to run on the ballot as Independents and not Democrats was going to be a high hurdle to overcome. Issue 1, the victim's rights amendment, passed in a landslide, while Issue 2, the drug price amendment, failed overwhelmingly. Check out full results at the link. Over half of Ohio's school ring their first bell before 8 AM. Speaking as someone who routinely fell asleep in morning high school classes (my first bell was at 7:20 AM), I wholeheartedly endorse this idea. [WOSU]The woman who flipped off Donald Trump's motorcade while riding her bike is actually from central Ohio originally. She went to Worthington High School before attending Ohio State, and has very sweet things to say about Ohio. [Dispatch/Smola]Vegan alert: Jeni's is releasing their first non-dairy ice cream which will be made with a base of coconut and cocoa instead of milk. The flavor will be dark chocolate truffle. Longread ๐บIf you're a parent you need to read this article about how YouTube has become a minefield when it comes to children's videos. Violent and frankly bizarre content is being created that targets keyword combinations children are likely to search, to the tune of billions of views. This might sound like typical moral panic that is so common with parenting articles except ... it's not. Read the article.Medium: Something is wrong on the internet
