Hello, Wednesday! Chelsea here.

Good morning, friends. How's everyone doing today? I hope your Wednesday is getting off to a great start. Mine definitely is, but that's because I'm starting it with all of you. I'm lucky like that! I thought we'd kick things off today by throwing it way, way back. It's hard to imagine a time in Columbus where the Ohio State University Marching Band wasn't serenading us every Saturday, but all good legends have their beginnings. The band that's been going strong for over a century started out as a small group of men and grew into one of the city's most iconic institutions. Here's the story of how TBDBITL became TBDBITL.

Yesterday brought a lot of new developments in the fight against coronavirus, and sadly, they aren't all positive. From the forthcoming state budget cuts to updates on how schools will function this fall, here's everything you need to know.

Am I the only one who's gotten way more into social media lately? I find myself exploring a bunch of Columbus hashtags and accounts, falling deep down the holes of local artists and entrepreneurs. If you've been on the hunt for some second-hand items, you should definitely be following these curators on Instagram.

Talking Points ❀️

Fallout πŸ’Έ

Ohio is staring down a massive budget deficit because of the pandemic and it looks like education will be one of the first things to see cuts. Governor DeWine has proposed $775 million in cuts and the savings will be found by chopping K-12 education ($300 million), health care for the poor and working-class ($210 million), higher education ($110 million), other education cuts ($55 million) and $100 million from other state agencies. This all comes on the same day that Ohio

for employers to turn in employees who are hesitant to return to work in a pandemic so that they can be denied unemployment.

Deserved Recognition ❀️

Dr. Amy Acton has become a targeted figure by some in Ohio, with

in Bexley. Polling shows that the majority of Ohioans are in favor of measures taken to prevent coronavirus spread, and national media has taken plenty of notice of Governor DeWine and Dr. Acton, with the latest being the article from the New York Times linked below.

Side note - I have found it interesting to watch similar activities in Michigan, where most of the vitriol is directed at the governor. It's hard not to notice that they have the opposite gender set-up as Ohio - a female governor and a male Director of Public Health.
