Take A Look At The Widespread Flooding Around Columbus 💦

Sponsored by Easton Town Center: Easton has reopened and they're welcoming guests with open arms and a commitment to keeping everyone safe. Learn more here❤️

Hello, Wednesday! Chelsea here.

Does anyone else ever feel like life just wants to throw us much at as all as possible? I'm being slightly dramatic, but this flooding on top of an ongoing pandemic provided quite the anxiety-filled start to my week. They say "a watched pot never boils" and I'm hoping that the same principle applies to basement flooding. Perhaps if I stare at it long enough, no more water will

ever

enter. A girl can try, right? I'm eternally grateful for the fact that it could have been so much worse, as you can clearly see in these photos and videos of flooding around central Ohio. I've included a video clip from Delaware that really showcases the danger of fast-moving floodwaters. If you've been dealing with the aftermath of receding waters, know that we're right there with you.

Navigator Originals ✏️

 😷

We've heard a lot from various business owners about how quickly life should go back to normal. But what about the workers who are putting themselves at risk? 5 Ohioans from various backgrounds share their concerns about heading back to work.

 😍

Sometimes, there's stuff that's just too cute not to share with you, and this is one of those situations. If you're in need of a few seconds of pure joy, please watch this baby okapi putter around his enclosure with his mom. He's so fantastic.

A different look for Pelotonia and DeWine says we have successfully flattened the curve as we transition from stay-at-home orders to "Ohioans Helping Ohioans". More details at the link in today's update.

Talking Points ❤️

Local Wildlife 🌸🦝

At least for some definitions of local. Two things you really need to see today:

Franklin Park Conservatory has had two giant

blooms. Franklin Park Conservatory helpfully shares that the blooms "

smell like rotting flesh to attract pollinators

".

And Columbus and Franklin County Metro Parks shared a video of two baby raccoons playing in a tree at Inniswood Metro Gardens.

History Repeats 🏈

This is not the first pandemic to jeopardize sports in Columbus. Here is the story of Ohio State football and the 1918 influenza pandemic.

Weather:

58 and cloudy, with rain likely, particularly in the early afternoon

Today's Photo 🤳

Cloudy skies over downtown

I do normally enjoy a rainy day, but I think I've had enough of stormy skies and basement anxiety, for now at least. ☔️
