Hello Wednesday! Chelsea here.

Welcome back to another steamy morning. As I'm sure you're aware, hundreds of thousands of people are without power. With the heat expected to continue through the week, this is a situation that could easily be life-threatening for some. If you are fortunate enough to have electricity, please consider offering your friends and family members a place to cool off. Further down in the newsletter, we've rounded up some resources for dealing with this heat wave.

But before we get into the super-serious stuff, I do want to mention something fun that's coming up. Throughout the summer, we all have the chance to participate in a one-of-a-kind yoga session 75 feet underground at Olentangy Caverns. It stays a chilly 55 degrees down there all year long, so that's definitely worth dreaming about on these hot summer days.

There are lots of ways

to cool off if you're stuck without power or air conditioning right now. Here are our suggestions:

We shared this yesterday, but it's been updated with some more information about extended community center hours and public pool information.

If you don't have time to take the kids to the pool but you're still looking for a way to cool off, visit one of the amazing splash pads around the city.

A good old-fashioned pool day may be the perfect way to cool off. Additionally, Dodge, Driving Park, Glenwood, Lincoln, and Tuttle pools are open from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., and admission is free.

If you're up for a little road trip, you can take a plunge in one of these refreshingly cool quarries around the state.

Sponsored by Decorative Arts Center of OhioA new exhibit from the Decorative Arts Center of Ohio will highlight photography from Depression-era photographers as well as contemporary photographers documenting the COVID-19 pandemic. Chronicles: The Great Depression and the Pandemic features photography from these two important times in history, comparing them while also engaging patrons with photography from regional sites including Lancaster, Fairfield County, and throughout Ohio. A theme throughout is the resilience of the American people as they tackle the trials and tribulations placed before them. The show will run through August 28, 2022.
