I think we should totally bring back postcards this year. I received a card in the mail from my mother-in-law earlier this week and I have to admit, there's something very exciting about getting things in the mail that isn't junk mail for a change. These postcards show off early 20th century Columbus and to be honest, not that much has changed!

Coronavirus Roundup π
1,320 new cases, 140 new hospitalizations, 38 new deaths. Trend graph is here.
County fairs beginning on or after July 31st are now required to be junior fair events only. (Think 4-H/FFA.) No midway, no games, no food, etc. (Governor DeWine Twitter)
All students at many central Ohio school districts, including Columbus City Schools and Southwestern City Schools will begin the year online-only. Virtual instruction will last through October 27th, at a minimum. (10TV)
Child care providers will be allowed to return to normal class sizes, beginning August 9th. (Governor DeWine Twitter)
Ohio State is planning for football and says there will be no more than 20k fans at games, no tailgating, mandatory face masks, and more restrictions. It all feels premature, but I understand they have to make some sort of plan with games potentially beginning a month from today. (OSU.edu)
The Columbus Italian Festival has been canceled for 2020. (Italian Festival Facebook)
Back And Forth π»
That didn't take long. A group of bars and restaurants - including Pins Mechanical Co., 16 Bit Bar + Arcade, Oddfellows Liquor Bar and Late Night Slice - filed suit to block the Columbus ordinance requiring bars, restaurants, and nightclubs to 10 PM. A judge quickly ruled, blocking the ordinance. Further complicating it all, Governor DeWine has indicated new rules for bars may be coming later this week.

I am not always so sure about the boldly-colored doors that have become trendy in recent years, but I love this lime green specimen found in German Village (almost as much as I love this single-topic Instagram account!) β€οΈπ‘
