Happy Wednesday! Chelsea here.

There are a lot of things I love about Columbus. But the one thing I always bring up to people is the food. It's a great time to go out to eat in this city, mainly because there are new and innovative things happening in restaurants all around town. Of course, all of the new dishes and restaurants are exciting, but there are also some iconic Columbus dishes that you can't get anywhere else.

I love a themed pop-up bar as much as the next girl. What can I say? I'm basic like that. I especially adore a pop-up bar that encourages creativity. The Brick Bar is a LEGO inspired event coming to Columbus for two nights only. I'll totally see you there, right?

Anybody else up for a little adventure? Pack up the kids, hop in the car, and head to Akron. Winterblast at Lock 3 is an incredible winter festival where you can ice skate, zoom around on ice bumper cars, and even ice bike. Yes, ice biking is a real thing. This place is legit so cool and I wish Columbus had consistent enough weather to support something like this!

Talking Points ❀️

Dichotomy πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

Mayor Ginther at a podium speaking at an event for Martin Luther King Jr. Day, while protesters are dragged away by Columbus police, isn't a great look. Whatever you think about something like this, it's important to remember that there exist politicians who would have seen something like this as an opportunity for engagement and not a reason to deploy police.

One problem with Columbus City Council always granting tax abatements, is that the requests become more and more outlandish. Nationwide Children's is asking for a $19.7 million tax abatement for a for-profit gene therapy manufacturing company that wants to build on Ohio State University's West Campus. Campus being a place in Columbus that needs tax incentives for development, which means the argument that Nationwide is trying to make is that campus is a place in Columbus that needs tax incentives for development to occur. The vote will take place on February 4th.

Businesses For Good ❀️

I enjoyed this look at social enterprises in Franklinton - I've long been an admirer of

and its mission to reduce infant mortality, and the article discusses other businesses with social missions including Franklinton Cycle Works, Fortuity Calling, Franklinton Farms, and more.
