15 Columbus Restaurants Where You Can Step Back In Time π½β°

Sponsored by Decorative Arts Center of Ohio: The 2020 season kicks off January 25th with the exhibition Tell Me a Story Where the Bad Girl Wins: The Life & Art of Barbara Shermund. Shermund was one of the first women cartoonists to work for The New Yorker. Starting in 1925, she contributed nine covers and hundreds of cartoons to the magazine, and later became a celebrated mainstay at Esquire. Shermundβs cartoons had a fierce and feminist electricity rarely seen in that era of male dominated cartooning. The show runs through April 26th and you can find more details right here. π₯π₯
Happy Wednesday! Chelsea here.
In honor of Way Back Wednesday (is that still a thing?) I'd like to take a look at some of the places around Columbus where you can basically time travel, without the need of a time machine. I hope you're ready to eat some delicious food and party like it's 1959, because some of these restaurants have been around for a very long time.

This weird January weather has me dreaming about patio season a little earlier than I normally would. Luckily, I now have something to look forward to. Bistrolino is open in German Village and they've got the delicious Mediterranean cuisine you didn't know you were craving.

I've seen a lot of houses around Columbus over the past few years. But none have been as captivating as this 60-year-old home. It's had the same owner for 40 years and honestly, not much has changed. Be prepared for a blast from the past, in the most epic way.

Plan Ahead, Plant Some Trees π²
Spring is still a few months out (not that you can tell from this weather) but you can already start planning. The Franklin Soil and Water Conservation District's annual spring tree and plant sale pre-order has begun. The sale is a fundraiser that benefits their Conservation Fund (you can see their
) and it's a great way to load up on Ohio-native plants and tree seedlings.

Long Overdue π‘
The city of Columbus released a plan titled "Envision Hilltop" on Tuesday that aims to improve the quality of life in the area. The centerpiece will be a $14 million pre-K center, but there are many other components, like street cleanup, sidewalk build-outs, and efforts to stop illegal dumping. You can view the plan in its entirety here:

I enjoyed this story of a couple who moved from Upper Arlington to Neil Ave. and started a rental business with a guesthouse on the property. Be sure to check out photos, particularly the beautiful wooden staircase. π
