Columbus Navigator Logo

Welcome to Wednesday. It's James.

I hope you've made the best of the one chance you'll ever have to experience February 2018, because tomorrow we flip the calendar to March.

On deck for March are a bunch of interesting concerts, St. Patrick's Day, butterflies at Franklin Park Conservatory, Columbus Crew opening day, the NCAA women's Final Four, the Arnold Classic, Columbus Brewgrass Festival, and a whole lot more.

Of course you know we have you covered Monday-Friday with our events guide here in the newsletter (especially on Mondays with our expanded concert and events guide), but this is a nice high level look at the month ahead. Get out there, shake off winter, and enjoy yourself.

Wednesday Weather ๐ŸŒก58 and cloudy. Rain will move in overnight. โ˜๏ธ

Around Town ๐Ÿ˜Possibly my favorite fact about Columbus is that in 1940 there existed a horror themed nightclub called Catacombs that was noteworthy enough for Life magazine to send a photographer out to document a typical evening. Skulls. Skulls everywhere. These pictures are tremendous. [Mashable]The rollout of legal medical marijuana has been so bungled that it may have to be pushed back from its September 8th deadline. I have to wonder if this mess will give fully legalized marijuana a boost in November, should the proposal make the ballot. [Dispatch/Schladen]The Washington Post continues the recent grand journalistic tradition of giving fascists and neo-Nazis way too much attention, profiling a 21 year old man living with his mother in what appears to be Hilliard (the place isn't specifically named in the article - it's just said to be a suburb of Columbus - but there are clues.) It's a disturbing read, mostly with the same takeaway I get from all of these articles - radicalization via Facebook and YouTube algorithmic suggestions is a serious issue. [Washington Post]
