Happy Valentine's Day 2018. It's James.

I wrote on Monday about the hotel building boom we're seeing in central Ohio, but that's not the only industry that has seen massive growth here in recent years. (It feels like everything is booming right now, right?)

We've also seen an explosion in local breweries, one that doesn't show any signs of slowing down - who else is excited for our

? If you're a fan of the trend it can be tough to know what to try next, but luckily plenty of fellow travelers have taken the journey before you. These are the best breweries in Columbus according to their thoughts, as expressed via the popular app Untappd.

Wednesday Weather 🌡☔️ 47 and rain. 90% chance of precipitation, mostly after noon.

The Wexner event is ending at least partially because the World Equestrian Games are occurring at the same time as the Classic, making it a scheduling challenge for competitors.Pokémon Competitors From Around The World Are Coming To Columbus And They Gotta Catch Em’ All To WinIs there much overlap between Pokémon players and Columbus Navigator newsletter subscribers? Maybe, maybe not, but this is a great get for the city - this summer will see the 2018 North America International Championships taking place right here in Columbus at the Convention Center. Hot Mikey’s Takeover Is Back For A Good CauseHot Chicken Takeover and Mikey's Late Night Slice are getting together and creating "Hot Mikey’s Takeover", a limited edition pizza that will be sold for one week only, benefiting the Columbus Diaper Bank, which is an awesome cause to support.

Around Town 🏘According to INRIX, a global traffic analytics company, Columbus ranks 55th out of 297 cities in the US for traffic congestion. The usual suspects were at the top of the list (LA, Atlanta, San Francisco, New York, along with international cities like Moscow, Sao Paulo, and London.) There is a narrative that traffic in Columbus isn't too bad, so we don't need better mass transit, but I am not sure it's holding as true as it might have a decade (or, definitely 20 years) ago. Some of it is construction to be sure, but there are parts of the city now that are guaranteed slowdowns almost any time of day. [614Now]Columbus author Hanif Abdurraqib recently signed a two book deal with Random House. Two Dollar Radio, a local indie press, printed his most recent work They Can’t Kill Us Until They Kill Us, which was a series of essays on music and race and how they intersect in the midwest. [WOSU]The Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission is hyping a "major announcement" that will take place the week of Feb. 19th on the planned Hyperloop route to Chicago and Pittsburgh. Hopefully this will be legitimately big news - we'll be watching. [This Week/King]

Longread 🌲🌳"It’s simple maths. We are chopping down about 15 billion trees a year and planting about 9 billion. So there’s a net loss of 6 billion trees a year.

Hand planting trees is slow and expensive. To keep pace with the tractors and bulldozers clearing vast areas of land, we need an industrial-scale solution.

For example, a drone that can plant up to 100,000 trees a day."World Economic Forum: These drones can plant 100,000 trees a day
