Welcome to Wednesday. It's James.

Assuming we can avoid a recession and it actually happens, the upcoming Franklinton Scioto Peninsula project will be one of the biggest development projects in Columbus history.

The project came one step closer to reality yesterday, with the selection of an Indianapolis developer who will move forward on creating the mixed use development.

Get really familiar with

, a similar mixed use development in Nashville, because that's the biggest feather in this company's cap to date, and one would assume our development will play out similarly.

Some of the housing will be pegged to current Franklinton income levels, making part of the development affordable housing, which is a big step forward in dealing with the negative effects of gentrification. Around Town 🏘The Ohio legislature must be pretty bored, and everything must already be running very smoothly in Ohio, because a vote on making cursive handwriting instruction mandatory is coming very soon. I may be bitter here because my 2nd grade teacher would get a little fresh with the ruler and the slapping of the knuckles when it came to handwriting and pencil grips (the 80's were wild, right?), but surely we have more important things to worry about? [ABC 6]Columbus Blue Jackets attendance has seen a bigger increase this season than any other franchise in the NHL, up 15% year over year to date. Blue Jackets attendance typically improves after November, and if that holds true they'd have a shot at averaging 17k+ for the first time since 2003-2004. Winning goes a long way towards getting butts in seats, and the Jackets are one of the top teams in the NHL so far this year, building on the success they had in '16-'17. [1st Ohio Battery]The fix is in with the MLS and Crew relocation, as shown by yesterday's revelation that the league has had lobbyists in Austin since last summer, two months before the "possible" relocation was announced. If the city somehow finds a way to keep the team, it looks like it'll be against the official wishes of MLS. [Massive Report]Lebron James is opening a third and fourth grade school in Akron this fall, targeting kids who are in danger of falling behind. This is in addition to his foundation's existing extensive work getting Akron kids to college through his foundation.  [Plain-Dealer]
