Hello, Wednesday! Chelsea here.

Happy Earth Day, friends! Today marks the 50th anniversary of this environmentally friendly holiday. I thought it would be fun to take a look back at the history of Earth Day here in Columbus and to explore ways to celebrate it from home this year. We're giving the earth an extra-long celebration while staying at home and I think that's something to be grateful for.

Governor DeWine and Dr. Acton reiterated that the reopening of Ohio will have to be a gradual process. Meanwhile, as cases continue to increase, facilities around Columbus are preparing as best the can, including a COVID-19 specific homeless shelter.

This time of year, Ohio really does give the most glorious sunsets. There are so many great spots to watch the sun go down over Columbus, but here are a few of our absolute favorites.

Talking Points ❀️

Pizza Night πŸ•

I appreciate this article, but also the title - anything talking about "After" is super irresistible. Hopefully, we'll all come out of this with a new favorite restaurant or two from carryout/delivery experimentation.

Spreading The Word πŸ’Έ

The unemployment system has basically been over capacity since most of this started. ODFJS is now asking people to call in based on the first letter of your last name for part of the week - see the linked PDF to see what that looks like and pass it along if you know anyone who has been spending their days on hold.

I assume I'm not the only one who has had this sort of thing on the mind, and so hopefully some of you will find these two links from Eater as useful as I did, especially on a topic where you can so easily go way, way down the rabbit hole.

North Market

Julie MIller, from What Should We Do Today Columbus, is running down her favorite spots in Columbus, and yesterday was North Market. Obviously, it's also one of ours and this is great timing as I've been meaning to find a way to mention that North Market is still open Wednesday-Sunday 11 AM - 5 PM.

One ... I guess I'll say "interesting" realization during all of this has been the idea that it's good to have an array of places to buy food during a crisis, whether that means grocery stores, CSAs, delivery services, or slightly alternative spots like the 144-year-old North Market. I'm sure the vendors appreciate any and all business right now, so if you have the opportunity or ability to shift some of your grocery budget in their direction definitely consider doing so. It's less of a zoo lately than most grocery stores, and that alone is a big selling point.
