Good Morning, Tuesday. It's Chelsea.
I hope you all enjoyed the holiday weekend! Why is it that three-day weekends fly right on by, but the middle of the week seems to drag on forever? I guess at least we're starting out a Tuesday. With the first football game of the season out of the way, it is finally starting to feel a little like fall around here. One of my favorite parts of any football game is the band. I should disclose, I'm a true band geek at heart (represent Central Crossing HS Marching Band!) and therefore get chills whenever I hear TBDBITL getting ready to take the field.
But one thing I'd never given much thought to was the history of the program itself. For decades, the Ohio State Marching band has put on interesting and entertaining shows for the masses, from their first performance of 'Hang on Sloopy' in 1965 to their current dazzling and intricate halftime shows. But even before they were playing the latest hits, the band was more military in nature. The first photograph of the Ohio State Marching Band was taken in 1886, and all things considered, they look like pretty cool dudes. ๐๐บ

I love coming to you all with good updates, and this one is pretty exciting. The wait is officially almost over for the new Ritzy's, inspired by the G.D. Ritzy's of days gone by. The new spot will open up this Thursday.

Jack Hanna has been our khaki wearing zoo guru for the last four decades here in Columbus. Because of his dedication and years of service, the zoo is planning quite the celebration this weekend.

Taking care of your mental health is so incredibly important. If you or anyone else you know has been in need of same-day services, then you know that info isn't always easy to come by. Here's a little help for those days when you may find yourself in need. โค๏ธ
Around Town ๐ก
Due to extreme temperatures, Columbus Public Schools will once again dismiss students after lunch. I can't function in hot weather, so you won't hear any "but when I was in school we went even though it was hot" complaints from me!
Columbus is such a creative place to be right now. Of course, we all know that we have an amazing variety of "makers" around town, but it seems someone has let that cat out of the bag! USA Today took a look at 10 of the best creative makers in Columbus.
Memories can pop up in the most unusual places. When an Ohio man received a text from his mom in Florida, he couldn't believe that she had found something special from his childhood 40 years later, and hundreds of miles away.

โWhat Iโm interested in is writing without the gaze, without the white gaze,โ she told me. โIn so many earlier books by African-American writers, particularly the men, I felt that they were not writing to me. But what interested me was the African-American experience throughout whichever time I spoke of. It was always about African-American culture and people โ good, bad, indifferent, whatever โ but that was, for me, the universe.โ
