10 Columbus comfort food restaurants that’ll make sure you gain 30 pounds in November 🍽

Happy Halloween. It's James.

Zoey is on the comfort food / winter weight beat lately, and today he has a list of ten Columbus restaurants to keep in your back pocket for the cold days ahead.

There's always plenty of discussion centered around what's notable about Columbus. What's our signature? Could it be comfort food? It does seem to be something central Ohio does well, and the argument could be made that it's what we spend the lion's share of time focusing on when it comes to the local food culture.

Tuesday Weather 🌡45. Mostly sunny. ☀️

Navigator Originals ✏️BrewDog Doesn’t Want Nazis To Buy Their Beer [Wiley]If we weren't living in the Upside Down I don't know that a statement like "We don't want Nazis to buy our beer" would be news, but it's 2017 and being anti-Nazi is now apparently viewed by some as controversial. Also see: the genuine controversy around this recent video game that involves killing Nazis. BrewDog's CEO Tanisha Robinson believes companies should not shy away from social issues, and given how much people are craving authenticity I think she's correct.Ernest Cline, Author Of ‘Ready Player One’ Will Be At Westerville Public Library This March [Wiley]Cline makes an appropriate visit to the Columbus area, where much of his book Ready Player One was set.7 Things To Do In Columbus During Those Cold Gray Days Ahead [Miller]Zoey has some indoor ideas for the months ahead. Some of the points seem less than ideal. A drug prevention media campaign seems like it'll be as cost effective as dropping the money down a well. (Some studies have shows that all these do is make kids more curious about using drugs who might not have been otherwise.)Massive Kids Consignment Sale Offers Deep Discounts in Hilliard, Just In Time For The Holidays [Wiley]You'll want to check this out if you're trying to cut costs or save money for Christmas. Around Town 🏘CMH Gourmand visits Nelsonville, calling it the "star of the Hocking Hills." It's a nice quick run down of what to do and where to eat in an area that is one of the best day trips you can take from Columbus. [CMH Gourmand]Columbus City Council approved a new legal fund created to "prevent the separation of Central Ohio families if one or more members are living in the US without proper residential status." Council member Elizabeth Brown spearheaded the campaign after hearing of Columbus immigrants being deported even if they had clean records and children who are United States citizens. [WOSU]Rep. Jim Renacci, a candidate for Ohio governor, had a bad moment on television recently in a video that subsequently has gone viral. It's rare to see these appearances go so pear shaped. Add in his bizarre "Fat Cats" commercial and it's possible Renacci would be in better shape staying off the airwaves entirely. [YouTube]

Longread 🏚Some players, from the start, were up front about admitting it was a hoax. Others insisted, to their graves, that the story was true, that the Lutz family had been haunted by something. It’s just that the something may not have been paranormal at all.Topic: The True, Twisted Story of Amityville Horror
