The Holiday Train Display With A Massive Castle, Cathedral, and Waterfall ππ°

Happy Tuesday. It's James.
When it comes to certain things in life I feel very split. I'm a good midwesterner who enjoys understated and simple design, but I also love when things are completely over the top and audacious, something we maybe don't see enough in Columbus.
Except, you know, for the main library(!) who come through at the holidays with an outrageous holiday train. The display dates back to 1992 and was displayed in the Huntington building downtown for years, before being moved to the library. Highlights include an 8-foot tall castle, a 6-foot tall cathedral, and a waterfall that pumps 600 gallons a minute. It opens today, and if you've never been, definitely make it a priority this holiday season.

People talk about The Masters, but Breakfast With Santa is quickly becoming the tradition unlike any other. Has this exploded in the last decade, or is it one of the (many) things I only noticed once I had kids?

The strangest thing you'll probably read today...
Did you know 145 S. Front Street, the six stories tall white marble building downtown on the Scioto Mile, has been empty since 2006? This is an absolutely bizarre story that probably deserves more attention.

More national love...
A Forbes writer recently ran down a solid weekend spent in Columbus, and while most of it probably won't be new, she does highlight a few places that don't usually show up in national mentions like this.

Goodnight, Sweet Prince...
Columbus Crew goalkeeper Zach Steffen, no kidding one of the greatest athletes in Columbus sports history, is being sold to Manchester City, the defending Premier League champions. There will be a $7-$10 million transfer fee, which makes it a bit of a question on whether Precourt and PSV will receive that money or whether it stays with the Columbus Crew. In more established sports, that isn't a tremendous amount of money, but it's a huge opportunity for an MLS franchise.
