The 7 best steakhouses in Columbus ๐Ÿฝ

Columbus Navigator Logo

Happy Tuesday. It's James.

The classic steakhouse feels like a throwback nowadays, to a time when eating out was reserved for special occasions like birthdays or celebratory situations like graduation days or job promotions.

We're lucky to live in a time of so many good fast casual options, but you don't get that same special feeling going through the line at Chipotle for the 4th time in the last week. Or so I've heard.

Anyway, here's our picks for the 7 best steakhouses in Columbus, including recommendations on what to get at each. My personal #1? The Top. It's a steakhouse that really does feel like a special occasion sort of place, possibly more than any other restaurant in Columbus.

UPS does not have discounted rates for NRA members, so presumably a switch in carriers for Jeni's will be forthcoming.

Around Town ๐Ÿ˜Columbus City Council rejected a ballot initiative from Everyday People for Positive Change that would have seen council expansion, districts replacing at-large seats, limits on campaign contributions, and new rules for filling vacant seats on an upcoming ballot. City Attorney Zach Klein said the petition violated city charter because it questioned "multiple or unrelated subject matters or questions of law." I am not an attorney, so I will leave Klein's decision to the experts, but it seems inevitable that expensive lawsuits will be forthcoming at some point if City Council doesn't address the issues concerning the entire Council consisting of at-large seats. [Dispatch/Rouan]The Wolfe Park Tennis Association is working to honor the Beatty Tennis Club, which was a predominantly African-American tennis club that operated from 1949-1993 on the near-east side. Tennis legend Althea Gibson played at the club one week before she became the first African-American to play Forest Hills in New York. WPTA is working to add historic signage, and they also want to upgrade and resurface two courts at the site. [USTA]Governor Kasich won't be signing a bill with a controversial expansion of "stand your ground" rights that's making it's way through the Ohio legislature. The current law requires gun owners in public to retreat, if able, before using deadly force in a self defense situation. The new law would have eliminated that requirement. It's possible this means the unprecedented expansion of bills expanding access to guns and forcing businesses to allow guns on premises (such as daycares) is over, at least through the 2018 election. Longread ๐Ÿ“บA prediction: this will go down as a classic of magazine journalism, particularly in the category of celebrity profile.
