Kroger closed their commercial bakery in Columbus on Monday, apparently with no warning, telling employees during a Monday meeting. 411 people will lose their jobs. The Cleveland Ave. bakery opened more than 90 years ago, and Kroger cited the age of the facility as a reason for closing.

Every Rose Has Its Thorn 🐶

The new statewide puppy mill law is causing breeders to dump dogs on rescues. The law limits the number of litters a dog can have to eight, bans storing dogs in small stackable cages, and imposed regulations on smaller breeders. Side note - how awful is it that limiting litters to eight per dog is an improvement? Breeders agreed to surrender animals that could no longer be legally bred when the law was negotiated, causing the surge in rescue activity. If you've been thinking about adopting a pupper, there's never been a better time.
