The Best Book Sale In Columbus Is Happening This Week πππ

Welcome to Tuesday. It's James.
Last year I started buying physical books again. I still love the Kindle (just being backlit is a LEAP INTO THE FUTURE - what a game changer for reading the 2-3 paragraphs I manage every night before falling asleep), but I missed finding a book unexpectedly, instead of methodically plowing through my Amazon list and library holds. I'm finding more and more that I miss some things about physical media. Algorithms telling me what to read, or what to watch, have lost a little of their luster. (Then again, you'll never take my Spotify Discovery playlist, not if I can help it.)
Anyway, this adds up to the Columbus Library book sale being a serious danger event for my wallet. I think I walked away with a couple of dozen books last year, and if you have kids? It's a magical wonderland of deals. You'll need a large bag of some sort, and you'll probably leave feeling set on books until the next time they do this.

Eventually though, we will have a gorgeous Saturday, you'll remember this article and it'll be time to head out.The Flyover Fest By Two Dollar Radio Is Back For The Second Year π¨Two Dollar Radio is one of the most interesting enterprises happening in Columbus right now, and this art festival shows why. The festival will take place around North Campus and South Clintonville, and will have literature, music, film, podcasts, and more.
Around Town πAmazon will be making their decision on HQ2 either this month or next. I think everyone knows the story here so I won't rehash, but whether they land here or not it's encouraging to read quotes like this: βThey love your town. You talk to anyone in Amazon at any different level they glow over their experience,β he said. βThey love the market.β An Amazon delegation was apparently on hand for the NCAA Women's Final Four. Hope they had fun! [Dispatch/Williams] πYou've probably seen housing ads that promise prospective buyers they can "rent-to-own". It probably will not shock you to learn this is often a predatory arrangement. WOSU looks at the issue with a pretty incredible story from a couple in Columbus who were evicted from a rent-to-own home. It's not really a great deal for anyone (save the owners πΈ) - 10% of cases that end up in environmental court (code violations) in Columbus involve rent-to-own tenants. [WOSU/Namigadde] πWould it surprise you to learn the editor of the Athens, Ohio newspaper is just 26? It surprised me. The Cleveland Plain-Dealer profiles him on the occasion of that really bizarre New York Times profile of the guy in southeastern Ohio who decided he didn't want to experience news while Trump was president.
