Start Fall Off On The Right Track With This Train Ride In Hocking Valley πŸš‚πŸ‚

Columbus Navigator Logo

Happy Thursday. It's Tracie.

If you pass a train, or see one from afar, and don't immediately shout: "Train!" does it even count? I know my family is not the only one who does this, right? See also: Cows, Horses, VW Beetles (Punch Bug).

So often we

see

trains, but how often do we ride them anymore? Here in Ohio at least? There's something classic and nostalgic about taking a train ride, especially one with no particular destination. With the changing seasons upon us (and don't forget Winter Is Coming), what better time than now?

It's been sitting on the market for a while, so you know what that means...price reduction...to $1.3 million. I just have one question: Does the Chihuly stay? πŸ’πŸ’°

What do you get when you combine 18 holes of mini golf with art? BHoles: An Artist-Created Miniature Golf Course, that's what. This awesome, family-friendly exhibit will be at Blockfort for just one more weekend, so don't miss out. β›³οΈπŸŽ¨

Since February 2017, 3 individuals have either jumped or fallen from parking garages at Ohio State. Today, the university announced that they'd be closing the rooftops of two garages in an effort to prevent further tragedy. πŸš‘πŸš— [614Now]Understandably, transportation workers would prefer to stay living in 2018, not 3018 (πŸ˜†), and have united to form a coalition against driverless buses. Their slogan? "A Bus Is Nothing Without Us," which is of course super clever, but I'm still hung up on the pluralization of "bus." Buses just doesn't look right, yeah? [WOSU]While Urban Meyer will return to the field for this week's home game, details have just emerged regarding his proxy, Ryan Day. Details like the fact that he'll receive an additional $487,000 on top of his existing $1 million salary. For 3 games. I feel like I should change careers. 🏈 [BusinessInsider]Honestly, you probably already know this if you subscribe to this newsletter, but Columbus is awesome. Totally 😍. It's been corroborated by this just-released report from Experience Columbus touting the city's record breaking number of visitors last year. [Dispatch]

As a parent of young children, there's nothing quite like the frustration of finding childcare. I'm not just talking about for date nights or random appointments. It's things like "late start" at school, or the days when schools are closed but most offices aren't. And it's not necessarily the fault of the education system, either. The daily schedule seems to fall under the popular "it's always been this way, so it will always be this way" route. "The world, apparently, does not revolve around parents either. Their lives also tend to be mismatched with school-day schedules, which usually end a good two hours before the typical American workday does. As Kara Voght recently wrote, that leaves a daily gap of unsupervised time for many children, forcing their parents to find affordable care for their kid or to adjust their own working schedule."The Atlantic: The Curse Of America's Illogical School-Day Schedule
