Here's everything new coming to Easton in 2018 πŸ€πŸ‘œπŸ›’

Columbus Navigator Logo

Happy Thursday, it's Tracie.

While I know that not everyone loves Easton, I'm a fan. Yes, it can get totally crowded, parking can be a pain πŸš—, and it's populated with a lot of chain stores. But, for me, it's still a fun way to spend an afternoon, and it feels like a destination experience, rather than just running into Target and then heading back home. Also, I feel like they've done a great job of including lots of family friendly events, like the fountains and the farmer's market β›².

This summer and fall, the tenants are changing, and we're getting some Columbus (and Ohio) firsts. And a few of the new shops will join Celebrate Local by being Columbus based. Now, you'll be able to shop small, while still living large. πŸ’°

Thursday Weather 🌑Slight chance of rain in the morning πŸ’§, with a likelihood of storms in the afternoon ⚑. High of 87.

Navigator Originals βœοΈKale And Ale Festival CancelledI mean, you know it's because of the name, right? Disappointing, especially since the whole vibe was farm to table food and craft brews. You can still find this event in Cincinnati and Cleveland this year, no eating of kale required. 🍺Kick Off Strawberry Season At Jeni's Strawberry Jam πŸ°I'm just planting the seed here, but if you're looking for something berry fun to do this weekend, Jeni's x Land Grant is where you should set up stake. All puns aside, family fun, ice cream, and live music, all in one place! Katzinger's Delicatessen Expanding To DublinIn addition to their German Village and North Market locations, soon you'll be able to visit one of the best sandwich shops in town at its new location. I'm just excited there will be three places for me to get a "Good Enough for Jan to Paint" sandwich 🍞.

Around Town 🏘The Village bookshop in Linworth is closing after 60 years. β€œThe public’s book-buying habits have changed,”  owner Gary Friedlinghaus said. β€œThat’s basically the reason for going out of business." You've got until the end of the summer to check out the going out of business sale, so hurry! πŸ˜₯πŸ“š [Dispatch]If you've never been to Actor's Theater at Schiller Park, you're missing out.  This season just kicked off and runs through June 17th. This year the show is Macbeth, and remember, he's the greatest chicken killer ever...because he "murdered most foul." πŸ˜‰πŸ”  [Columbus Underground]Two Columbus police officers were cleared of any wrongdoing in the shooting death of Kareem Jones in July of last year. A federal lawsuit filed by the Jones family is still pending. [WOSU]

Longread My older kids had their last day of school on Wednesday. Now, we face the long summer vacation with only haphazard plans, a pool membership, and a fridge stocked with juice boxes and beer.  I joke with my friends often about dreading the summer. It's only partially true. I love getting to spend time with my big kids, and seeing the world through their eyes, when they're not fighting with each other, of course. But, I also love to sit by the pool, in a chair, reading a book πŸ“˜. While no one talks to me. That's probably wishful thinking for me this summer, but if you've got the time ⌚, these books would be a good use of it. Vanity Fair: Summer's Five Best Celebrity Memoirs
