Hello, Friday! Chelsea here.

There's a lot going on in the world right now, and in our own city. We're going to get into it more in-depth down below, but I thought I'd offer you a few minutes of daydreaming before we get into the heavy, but incredibly important stuff. So for your viewing pleasure, let's take a lovely, waterfront stroll through these beach-inspired homes throughout central Ohio. There are island homes, quaint cabins, and ultra-modern cottages, and they've all got stunning views.

The governor offered guidance on visitation to certain long-term care facilities. Visits will be outdoors and will begin on June 8. Decisions regarding nursing homes will be made at a later date. The cases continue to climb around the state as the death total climbs towards 2,100.

Talking Points ❀️

Three Links 🚨

I'm tired, tired, tired. Following the events in Minneapolis yesterday, and then Columbus last night, these three articles spoke to me.

From Hanif Abdurraqib, writing in 2016, but read it and tell me if you can tell it wasn't written this week:

(Alive)

I hear and see constantly the question of why protests aren't peaceful, and this answers that question in a clear, easy-to-understand way. You may still disagree with people's actions after reading it, but you'll have an answer as to why it's happening.

(Discourse)

Today, the discussion will largely play out the way it always does around all of these issues, even though it feels increasingly surreal to have any kind of national "debate" around race or police violence. What's happening in Minneapolis could have happened in Columbus countless times over the years, and still could at any point, because

, to the detriment of all of us.

As I wrote this, the president tweeted his support for shooting looters. We're in a tough place right now, but the only way out is through, and that's what this last link is about.

Local photographer Shawn Auguston is shown here experimenting with some expired Kodak Polycontrast Paper and achieving a vintage look at downtown that I just love. πŸ“Έ
