They're Growin' Tall...I'm Yellin' Timber...Because They're Trees And You Gotta See 'Em ๐ณ๐ฒ๐ด

Happy Thursday, Tracie here.
We've talked at length about the wonder of our Metro Parks. And yes, we've even touched on my fear of the turkeys at Blendon Woods. My family has even made it a goal to visit each of the parks here in Central Ohio, before hopefully venturing out even further. Yosemite, we'll get to you sometime in 2025.
But one of the parks that doesn't get nearly enough lip service for how great it is, is Walnut Woods. Their new playground is for sure a 10/10, but the Tall Pines area is like the diet version of the West Coast Redwoods. You'll certainly feel like you're among giants. ๐ฒ๐ฟ

Around Town ๐An ankle monitor was found in a Burlington parking lot, with all signs pointing to it being intentionally cut off of the monitored person's leg. What's troubling, no one seems to know who it belonged to. ๐ฎ [nbc4i]The ACLU has filed a federal lawsuit against Ohio's unconstitutional gerrymandering laws. While you may be thinking "didn't Issue 1 just pass, requiring a redistricting?" You'd be correct, but the new maps will not be drawn until 2021, and will not affect elections until 2022. If this lawsuit passes, change will be imminent. [WOSU]Both Kings Island and Cedar Point ๐ข are offering free admission for members of the military this Memorial Day weekend. When I skimmed this headline, I thought, "how nice!" But, after reading the article, I now see that the free admission is only for the member of the military, and their family members receive a minor discount (their admission is still upwards of $30). So, meh, do better theme parks! ๐ก [10tv]

LongreadWhen Clarissa Glenn's boyfriend, the father of her three children, was arrested in 2005 on drug charges, she was sure he was being framed. At the time, they were living in the Ida B Wells development, one of Chicago's largest housing projects. Drug abuse and poverty were rampant. Still, she knew in her heart that a corrupt police officer was to blame for Ben Baker's arrest and later conviction.Eleven years later, Baker was exonerated and released from prison, because of Glenn's determination. Unexpectedly, due to her involvement, over fifteen other falsely accused men have had their convictions overturned. ๐The New Yorker: How One Woman's Fight To Save Her Family Helped Lead To A Mass Exoneration
