Common sense gun laws 🔫 could be coming to a city near you -Columbus 😉

Columbus Navigator Logo

Happy Thursday, it's Tracie.

Recent studies show that a majority of Americans support stricter gun laws. Seriously, that's a fact. The new proposal at council supports a lot of things that are easy to get behind, even for gun owners. Several of the bullet points (I'm so sorry) reference imitation guns and ways to make it easier for police officers to discern when a gun being brandished is merely a toy. City Council will hold public forums at to be determined dates. But it'd be wise to load up (oh, geez) on the facts in advance of those forums.Navigator full story: Columbus City Council Proposes Common Sense Gun Laws🔫

Around Town 🏘An interesting read about norovirus 😷, yeah I said it, and its namesake Ohio town. Probably not something that Norwalk is going to be bragging about anytime soon.  [WOSU]Despite the fact that Columbus has seen its population increase by 7% since 2010, while no other Ohio city saw any notable increase, we still have a ways to go as far as community well-being.👫👬  [Columbus Alive]It's been 8 months since the horrific accident at the Ohio State Fair, and at least one of the victims is still hospitalized. Honestly, there's nothing positive to say about this, I just sincerely feel like this hasn't been in the news and it's worth noting the gravity of that incident.  [614Now]

Longread My favorite children's book growing up was Jamberry by Bruce Degen. But now, I'm hoping my kids will have a different favorite, and it stars an adorable bunny named Marlon Bundo 🐇  The writers of John Oliver's Last Week Tonight are behind it. And it's the Amazon Best Seller.  Why is that noteworthy?  Because it was written specifically to troll Vice President Pence and the similarly titled book written by his daughter and illustrated by his wife. 🐰  I don't mean this as a political post, although, I guess that can't be avoided, but genuinely it's an adorable book for children that teaches acceptance.  The fact that it pokes a little fun at Mike Pence is just part of the story. 📚Vanity Fair: John Oliver's Gay Bunny Book Is Out Selling The Mike Pence Book It's Trolling
