Looking For Work? This Is Who’s Hiring Right Now Around Columbus 👍

Hello, Thursday! Chelsea here.

Good morning, friends. First of all, I'd like to say thank you to everyone who reached out yesterday! It was so amazing to hear from all of you about what's going on in your life. I got through most of the replies, but if you didn't get one yet, I promise it's coming soon. This morning I wanted to share some resources for those of you who are out of work or know someone who has lost their source of income due to the pandemic. These aren't perfect solutions (what is completely perfect right now?) but they are available. If you know of anyone else who is hiring, please hit reply and let us know the details so that we can get them added to the list right away. Sending lots of positive vibes to all of you this morning!

 💊

Wednesday brought closures for many more industries, a state of emergency declaration for Columbus, and more.

 🌳

I know it's been a little rainy, but I cannot stress the importance of getting outside enough. Everything else may be closed, but the great outdoors is still wide open. Go for a walk and challenge yourself to find something beautiful, to shut off your mind for a few minutes, and allow a moment or two of joy in.

Talking Points ❤️

Coulda Been A Contender 🏀

The Ohio State men's basketball team was headed for the NCAA tournament before the cancellation, probably as a 5 seed. This followed a season that had some very high peaks, including four wins over top 10 teams. The Washington Post simulated an imagined tournament and the Buckeyes took home the title. You can read about their path to the simulated title at the link below.

Zoo Lovers Take Note 🦍

This looks very interesting, and we all need reading recommendations right now: a former Columbus Zoo gorilla keeper has written a book called

about her 14 years caring for the Zoo's gorillas. The book is excerpted below, and it's an interesting read that will make the gorillas at the Zoo even more compelling the next time you visit.

Weather:

66 and cloudy, turning to rain after 3 PM

Air Quality:

Good - as long as I have been tracking this, seeing particle pollution under 30 has been rare (50 is the first level of air quality moving out of "good" range). It stands at a minuscule 9 right now as I write this,

, presumably beginning to show the clean air results of many of us sitting at home.

Charlie in a sweater

This is Charlie, quite possibly my favorite Columbus influencer. Thank goodness for dogs right now. 🐶
