Happy Thursday! Chelsea here.
Like every other huge event this summer, the Ohio State Fair won't be happening due to COVID-19. But that doesn't mean that we will have to miss out on the majestic wonder that is the butter cow. This year, we're all being challenged to sculpt our own, miniature butter cows at home. And yes, there is a prize if you sculpt the best cow! Even if you aren't going to participate, please take a few moments to watch this video of a butter carver explaining how to DIY. It's so weirdly satisfying.

Last year, there was big talk about Westland Mall becoming Weston, an Easton-like shopping experience. But in lieu of any news on that front, we'll have to settle for seeing what Westland Mall looks like these days. Spoiler alert: it's kind of sad.

Drive-Thru Life πͺ
The Farm at Walnut Creek is an Amish animal sanctuary located in Sugarcreek. It's an interesting place even in normal times, but right now it has a major selling point: the main attraction is viewed from the seat of your car as you drive through the sanctuary viewing moose, camels, bison, ostriches, and much, much more. Check out a trip report with lots of great photos at the link below.

Dominoes are beginning to tumble when it comes to schools. Many Central Ohio schools have announced they will be online only through October and now comes news that health officials are also recommending schools forego extracurricular activities. (10TV)
I try not to be pessimistic here too often, but it's difficult to see Ohio getting this all under control and sorted so long as this kind of thing is happening. The view from Put-In-Bay: A pandemic is raging. So are Ohioβs bars. (Ohio Capital Journal)

The Ohio State Fair was scheduled to start this week, and it will be so missed. This isn't at all a replacement of course, but the Fair is doing "Ohio State Fair Anywhere", an online experience that includes things like
(link goes to YouTube playlist with how-tos, and yes, there are deep-fried candy bars), a companion
,
, and a way to
.
Fingers crossed that this time next year we'll be able to make our way through these gates. π‘π’
