Wurst news ever, German Village mainstay Juergens Bakery now closed. ๐Ÿ˜ญ

Happy Thursday, it's Tracie.

After more than 50 years in business, Juergens closed unceremoniously last week. If you think about other things that began or happened 50 years ago, it helps to put into perspective how long this restaurant thrived, despite plenty of polarizing reviews.

Fifty years ago, Elvis & Priscilla were married, OJ Simpson was a heralded running back at USC, and women were not yet allowed to compete in the Boston Marathon. It must've been comforting for female marathoners of Columbus that despite not being able to qualify for Boston, they could still get a sweet sweet pastry from Juergens.  (I mean, no, those two things aren't comparable at all, of course, segues just aren't my strong suit).

Thursday Weather ๐ŸŒกโ„๏ธ๐ŸŒจ Did someone say "snow?" Chance of precipitation 30% with a high near 42. Potential for snow showers lasts through the weekend.

Longread โ›ธMost of us remember watching the moment unfold in 1994.  We remember Nancy Kerrigan on the ground, wailing "whyyyyyyy" over and over. And honestly, we remember those sweaters Jeff Gillooly wore during the trials (we do, right? not just me?)  My recollection of the events was pretty clear, Tonya Harding was bad and Nancy Kerrigan was good. Kerrigan was squeaky clean, and Harding was rough around the edges. With the movie "I, Tonya" and the upcoming winter olympics, the story is being revisited, and for the first time, Tonya Harding is opening up about her side of the story. The New York Times: Tonya Harding Would Like Her Apology Now
