Where does the Columbus arts scene go from here? β€πŸŽ€πŸŽ¨πŸŽ

A strange thing is happening with the full gentrification of our Arts District. Rents are booming, and it's an open question where artists are meant to congregate and live and work now. Franklinton? Change is coming there too. Campus? Not cheap either.Columbus is trying hard to be a midwestern hub, and culture is a part of that holistic goal.  Zoey ponders these questions and more, and talks to local art scene players to get their thoughts.Navigator full story: Chomping At The Bit: Debating The Columbus Arts Scene

Thursday Weather 🌑High of 19, wind chills of -3, and mostly cloudy. Brrr. ☁️

Navigator Originals βœοΈThe Dispatch Ran A Lazy Hit Piece On The Columbus Land Bank Program And Is Getting Called Out For ItTwo reporters for the Dispatch wrote an article on the Columbus Land Bank, running full speed ahead with a developer's perspective on the Columbus Land Bank. Several of the facts in the story were inarguably, egregiously wrong, and the paper has refused to run a response from the Land Bank Program.COTA Is Launching A Game Changing New Route On January 1When it comes to mass transit the bus is evidently our only option, forever, but COTA is making the best of it with an innovative new route debuting next week. This CMAX Cleveland Ave. route  will make limited stops, have priority at traffic lights, a dedicated lane, and more, all with the goal of getting people to work easily and efficiently. The Complete and Utter Failure Of Ohio Charter SchoolsA study was released yesterday with the conclusion that Ohio's charter schools do a far worse job graduating kids who live in urban school districts than the actual school districts do. This isn't surprising to anyone who has watched the rise of Ohio charters in the last decade, which has seen outright fraud, bribery, state takeovers of failed schools, and consistently poor overall performance. The rundown of what's happened, when viewed in one place, is remarkable.

Around Town 🏘You've probably never truly seen the night sky. That may sound surprising, but this video proves it in stunning fashion, by showing off every level of sky / light pollution, from level 8 (city, like we see here in Columbus) to level 1, far from civilization (rare in the US, the examples here of level 3-1 night skies are all in Utah.)  Ohio does have some good star gazing spots, but you'll have to leave central Ohio. [Kottke]Have you checked out Standard Hall yet? The Bloody Mary bar is awesomely over the top. Onions, bacon, deli meat, cheese ... all appropriate Bloody Mary garnishes here. [Breakfast With Nick]The Dispatch has the top Uber and Lyft destinations. It's the airport for Lyft (glam!) and Short North Pint House for Uber. Many Short North spots showed up in the top 10 for both, which seems obvious when considering it's the one place in Columbus that is a real pain to drive into for a night out. [Dispatch/Gearino]

Picture of the DayA Bloody Mary fit for ... uh royalty. And looking at temps, and the 5:00 pm darkness, it's definitely carbs, meats, and alcohol season, so get you one of these guilt free is what I'm suggesting. (πŸ“·: Breakfast With Nick)
