Franklinton is losing their hospital 🏥

Columbus Navigator Logo

Franklinton is losing Mount Carmel West.

Official demolition is now planned for spring 2019, following the opening of a replacement hospital in November 2018. The new hospital will be located in Grove City.

It won't be a total loss for Franklinton: the College of Nursing will be expanded, and an emergency room will be opened in the soon to be vacant surgical center. Much of the vacant site will become green space, with the hopes of attracting future housing or other development, which shouldn't be a hard sell if Franklinton continues its current development trajectory.

Thursday Weather 🌡47 - Mostly sunny. 🌤

Navigator Originals ✏️Central Ohio Was Snubbed In State Tax Credits. Here’s What It Means For Local Projects. Two central Ohio projects that seemed like good bets for state development tax credits were passed over for other state projects, and nothing in central Ohio was selected at all, with Cleveland being a big winner. The east side Trolly Barn market project and Palace Theatre both seemed like solid candidates for tax credits. The east side project owner says he will try again in 2019, and Palace Theatre is about to begin a capital improvement fundraising campaign, so it's possible their improvements could happen even with the credits.Pins Mechanical Co. Is Now Open In DublinWe visited Pins on opening day, and it's a gorgeous space. We have scores of photos and the scoop on a very well executed concept that I think will be a big success in Dublin's Bridge Park.

Around Town 🏘Breakfast With Nick has a review of the new Cravings Cafe, formerly of Italian Village, now two years later, relocated to North Front Street downtown. The space looks great and so does the food. [Breakfast With Nick]Local icon - and I do think the word icon is appropriate - Leslie James is leaving CD102.5. She announced via her Instagram yesterday that she will be the head of U.S. radio and streaming department at East City management, an artist management firm. Her last show will be December 29th, and she'll be missed. [Instagram]614Now has compiled their list of the top 10 local podcasts. A few suggestions in the comments as well. [614Now]

Picture of the DayPins has knocked it out of the park with this Dublin space and can I say that I'm loving the bar trend moving nights out towards activities and games vs. sitting on a stool drinking and watching television? Big improvement.
