Where do you want to eat?

It's a question that inspires deep ennui the world over. When faced with that query, my brain loves to return the same few options it always does, and I quickly forget the dozens of places I have been wanting to try.

That's why I'm so glad to have this list of the 42 best restaurants that opened in Columbus in 2017. I'm bookmarking this list in my phone, and it's going to be my Rosetta Stone for navigating the culinary waters of Columbus or the next few months. You might want to do the same.

Thursday Weather 🌑28. Mostly cloudy. ☁️

And an in ground backyard pool in German Village is so luxuriously over the top you really can't help but marvel.Global Academy Is Making A Big Impact On Students, And You Can HelpChelsea interviews the director of Global Academy, a Columbus City Schools program that helps students hailing from all over the world with English language acquisition. Around Town 🏘Breakfast with Nick revisits South of Lane, an Upper Arlington cafe. I need to check it out, because waffles are the greatest things in creation, but Nick is correct in that there are too many subpar versions out there. These look fantastic. You'll probably get a laugh at some of the dish names. [Breakfast With Nick]Columbus is inching closer to a record number of homicides, and police chief Kim Jacobs says their resources are overtaxed. As we covered earlier this year, Columbus police solves homicides at half the rate they did in the 90's, and it isn't improving. Jacobs says their overtime costs are skyrocketing and she would like to hire more officers and detectives. Some cities have improved their clearance rates, significantly, so perhaps there are lessons to be learned for Kim Jacobs and Columbus PD.  [WOSU]A central Ohio man has built a replica of R2-D2. This is more impressive than it might sound at first glance - it weighs 175 lbs, is virtually identical to the movie version, took two and a half years to build, and is fully functional. [10TV]

Picture of the DayMy favorite new restaurant in 2017? Tough call, but Smoked On High (our review) is addictive.
