Score A Cheap Flight To Warmer Weather This Winter โœˆ๐ŸŒด๐Ÿ„

Columbus Navigator Logo

Happy Thursday, friends. Tracie, here.

I know what you're thinking: "Yesterday's weather was gorgeous! Today's forecast is even better!"

Well, not to rain on your parade, but this ain't gonna last. Before you know it, we'll be bemoaning living in Ohio, cursing the freezing weather that starts in November and lasts until June โ„๏ธ. We'll all be desperate for warm sun and sandy beaches. Have no fear, Frontier Airlines has just announced service from Columbus to West Palm Beach and the Dominican Republic. The only thing frozen you'll have to deal with will be that Margarita in your hand. ๐Ÿน

Although I got my fill of Bret Michaels on VH1's "Rock of Love" perhaps there are still some of you looking for that thorny rose? Or maybe you've got a hankerin' for a "Redneck Woman." I mean, personally, you'd have to pay me to see either of them in concert, but I'll happily attend the ZucchinFest.  Have you ever had a zucchini donut? Worth it.

With lines like "sexually suggestive images of each of the Pony characters" you might think Zoey left this Brony convention traumatized, nay, scarred for life. But no, friendships were formed. Respect was earned. Fun was had.

After a day full of deliberation, it was announced that OSU Head Coach Urban Meyer and Athletic Director Gene Smith would be suspended without pay. The decision comes after an investigation by the university to find out what Meyer knew about former assistant coach Zach Smith, and when he knew it.

Did you know that gubernatorial candidate Richard Cordray was a five-time champion of the Jeopardy! game show back in 1987? I sure didn't. Now, Cordray's own campaign website touts this accolade in hopes of winning over voters who may think him too dry. ๐Ÿ“บ

Ohio State students started a new school year this week with a newly renovated Mirror Lake โ›ฒ.  While not yet complete, the fences are down and the shrubs are going in.  The only thing not going in?  Students.[Dispatch]Ohio wants to make its network of trails a big selling point, is funding them accordingly ๐Ÿ’ฐ, and now wants to know from you where more trails are needed ๐ŸŒฒ. Polio was eradicated in the United States in the 1970's, meaning there have been no new cases of the disease in America since the widespread distribution of the vaccine. However, some of the survivors still rely on the treatment method of the time: the iron lung.

"There are only a few people left in the US still using the iron lung machine; 82-year-old Mona Randolph of Kansas City, Missouri, is one of them."
