Hello, Wednesday! Chelsea here.

I hope you’re all ready for a little sunshine, because it’s actually in the forecast for today! I love a rainy day slightly more than the next girl, but even I have to admit that we’re overdue for a dry day. If I enjoyed extended cold and wet weather, I probably would have loved Columbus about 10,000 years ago. Because long before Ohio was crisscrossed with highways, mastodons ruled the cold, rainy, Ice Age landscape. In 1989, a nearly complete skeleton was found near Newark, along with preserved gut contents. It’s one of the most significant Ice Age discoveries in North America, and it happened right here in Central Ohio. This is the story of how the most important Mastodon skeleton in the world was found. P.S. I know the emoji is a mammoth, but let’s just pretend it’s a mastodon.

The new shop will be opening on Grandview Avenue in the next few months, offering Columbus booklovers yet another independent shop to frequent. I don’t know about you, but this is going to wreak havoc on my book-buying budget.
