Happy Monday, Columbus.

You're going to go outside today, and - brace for it - it's going to feel like fall. If you're anything like me, you were probably starting to wonder if this day was going to come. But it looks like it'll be short lived - we're back into the 70's later this week, so enjoy it while it lasts.Let's make some plans for the week.

The Circleville Pumpkin Show starts today and runs through Saturday.

Hang out with Alton Brown.

Food Network star Alton Brown comes to town with his "

Eat Your Science

" show.  From the site, for those unsure of what to expect:

Fans can expect more comedy, talk show antics, multimedia presentations and music (yes, he sings), but Brown is adding a slew of fresh ingredients including new puppets, songs and bigger and potentially more dangerous experiments.

Put yourself into a meat coma.

It's time for the 21st Annual Ohio Smoked Meat & BBQ Festival. This is serious business - the competition is the Ohio state level competition for smoked meat and BBQ, and it's sanctioned by the Kansas City Barbecue Society. There will be vendors and tons (literally? probably) of delicious food both Friday evening and Saturday.

Have Halloween at the Zoo.

It's the first weekend of Boo at the Zoo, featuring characters like Batman, Wonder Woman, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and, of course, many animal themed shows and events.

Saturday

Pig out on chili and ribs.

The Hills Market Downtown will be featuring their best chili and baby back rib recipes from 11am - 2pm on Saturday. If you're brave, pair with the Nelsonville event above.

Have an early Halloween in Gahanna.

With all the specific Halloween festivals and events, I'm realizing a lucky child with Halloween crazy parents could probably dress up a half dozen (more?) times in October. Gahanna Creekside is putting on "Creepside", and will include a Trick Or Treat Trail, with over 50 local businesses passing out treats, live music, games and dinosaurs (!) with Gahanna Parks and Rec, pumpkin painting, escape rooms ... there's more, Gahanna really goes all out here. Hit the link for the full list of events.

Take a fall colors tour.
