Happy Monday! Chelsea here.

It's really easy to focus on short term situations this year. So many things have been uncertain and if I'm being honest, sometimes it feels like life will never go back to normal. But then I see news like this, a new apartment building, or I hear about a restaurant opening and it reminds me that we are going to get through this eventually. I know it's so tempting to meet up with your friends or go out for a drink, but we've just got to keep ourselves masked up and safe for a little while longer. In the meantime, daydream about how fantastic the rooftop pool at this new apartment building is going to be with me.

The governor's strengthed mask mandate goes into effect today, and as such, businesses and organizations around the city are letting customers and visitors know that masks must be worn. Please, please, respect the mask mandate. Cover your face in public, wash your hands, and stay at least 6 feet away from each other. We can do this, people!

Every day I wake up and think about how wild it is that I genuinely get to write words for a living. I had a pretty long list of literary heroes as a kid, and one of them was most definitely James Thurber. The Thurber House as an organization has impacted the lives of countless writers, students, and visitors alike throughout the years, and they could use our help and support now.

This year I think I'll feel right in my element in regards to holiday shopping. I love shopping online and I love shopping locally, and both of those things are going to be the safest, most helpful things to do this year. If you're looking to start your holiday shopping off strong, I'm going to suggest you click this link. Save some money friends!

Castleberry was killed by Columbus police officer Andrew Mitchell who is now on trial for the murder - he is also under federal indictment on charges he raped women in exchange for their freedom. Columbus has recently paid out settlements of $475,000 (to an ex-officer for racial discrimination) and $450,000 (to Stormy Daniels in connection to her arrest by the vice unit that employed Andrew Mitchell.)

Sawmill Wetlands Educational Area

looks like a fun spot after reading this trip report, but what I really enjoyed from this piece was this method of finding interesting local things to explore: "

I have a running list of things to see and places to go, but sometimes I just zoom in and out on Google Maps and look for something interesting โ€“ green spaces, parks, hidden gems, etc.! And this is one of those times. I ran across a random green area in the middle of the big box shopping area that is Sawmill Road.

A South Dakota ER nurse

on her COVID-19 patients who refuse to believe the pandemic is real: "

The ones that stick out are those who still donโ€™t believe the virus is real ... All while gasping for breath on 100% Vapotherm. They tell you there must be another reason they are sick. They call you names and ask why you have to wear all that โ€œstuffโ€ because they donโ€™t have COViD because itโ€™s not real. Yes. This really happens.

Fall in German Village

It was fun while it lasted, but the crazy wind yesterday made quick work of fall, at least where most of the leaves are concerned. Anything still hanging on is a seriously tenacious leaf. ๐Ÿ‚๐Ÿ‚
