Hello, Monday! Chelsea here.
Hello, all you cool cats and kittens! It's officially our second week of the Stay-At-Home order from the Governor and Dr. Acton. It feels like it was years ago, but the order was actually signed on March 22, which just goes to show how weird the pace of life is right now. By now, we're all starting to settle into our new normal a little bit more, but I still have to ask: How is everyone doing today? I hope you're all doing well, from the bottom of my heart. Everyone's self-isolation situation is vastly different, but I think one thing we can all agree on is that staying at home would be a lot more fun with an inground pool. Especially one as freaking gorgeous as the pool in this Hoover Reservoir-adjacent home.

There are only 22 counties in Ohio that do not have any confirmed coronavirus cases. The numbers continue to grow around the state, as well as here in Franklin County, where there are nearly 250 confirmed cases. Get your daily update here.

We chatted with Katrina Ruege, a local Licensed Professional Counselor, to find out how we can all be looking after our mental health during this pandemic. Spoiler alert: it involves a lot of kindness.

In my humble opinion, Columbus has always been cool. Now I feel like I have the pics to prove it. This incredible photo series features the work of John Margolies, a photographer who spent decades taking pictures of America's roadsides.
Talking Points ❤️
Battelle Saving The Day 🔬
Local company Battelle has developed a mask sterilizing technology that can decontaminate up to 80,000 masks per day, per machine. There was some controversy over the weekend on whether the FDA would allow Battelle to use the machines at full capacity which included Governor DeWine holding a press conference and making a personal appeal to the president, but late Sunday night the FDA
to use the machines with no limitation. More on the development of the tech and just what it means for healthcare workers at the link below.

Tiger King 🐅
Remember the
? (If you don't, or if you have moved here since then, please click that link and read about one of the most insane things to ever happen in Ohio.) It repeatedly came to mind for me when watching Tiger King, the viral Netflix documentary about Joe Exotic, a man who owned a roadside zoo in Florida. That summation doesn't really do it justice, and if you're looking for coronavirus distraction it's hard to argue you could do much better right now.

Dealing ❤️
This isn't precisely local news - except everything to do with coronavirus is local news now, right? All I know is, I found this extremely helpful, and I think you might also (plus it pairs well with our story today on mental health.)

50 and increasingly cloudy

Ever come to tears or belly laughed during a performance, left an exhibition feeling thoughtful, calmed your anxiety by reading a poem? Now is the time to say thank you. Donate to the Emergency Relief Fund for Franklin County Artists.
Today's Photo 🤳

State parks remain open, and I'll keep hammering home that getting outside is one of the best things everyone can do for their mental health right now. Just remember that things like bathrooms and usual amenities will be closed, plan accordingly before heading out, and obviously maintain that social distance on trails and paths. 🌳❤️
