I've been attempting to write this intro for hours now, but none of my words seem sufficient to the challenge. I'm heartbroken, exhausted, and aching for change, as I'm sure you are too. The time for silence has passed. If you aren't having important conversations about systemic racism and the devastation it's causing, now is the time to lift your voice. Some Columbus businesses took the opportunity to do just that over the weekend.

It's important to know how officials responded to this weekend. Mayor Ginther had some extremely mild Tweets essentially saying police misconduct was unacceptable that he subsequently deleted, while some city council members and others called for the city to implement the recent Community Safety Advisory Commission's plan along with the rest of the Matrix report -

With urgency we must form a Civilian Review Commission, greatly expand deescalation training including use of non-aggressive tactics during nonviolent protest, adopt tighter restrictions on officer use of force, and implement the recommendations of the Safety Advisory Commission.

I'm not sure what the narrative is going to be coming out of this weekend, but I'm going to end with this thought - a lot of people spend a great deal of time and money trying to convince us this is the only way things can be. They want us to think a better world isn't realistic or possible. But it is. ❤️
