The Octagon Earthworks is finally open! This incredible historic site has been locked away from the public for over a century, but thanks to the hard work of the Ohio History Connection and the state’s first UNESCO World Heritage site, now we can all enjoy a visit to the mounds. This is just one of many ancient earthworks here in Ohio that showcase the skill of the region’s Indigenous people, so if you head out to Newark and fall in love, there will still be plenty more spots like this to visit!
