This Incredible Downtown Mural Is The Happiest Photo Op In Columbus πŸ“ΈπŸŽ¨

Join the Columbus Foundation on August 28, 2019 for The Big Table, a day of community building through conversations designed to connect and inspire central Ohio! Through open, thoughtful conversations, we will spark new relationships and new ways for working together by deepening our understanding of each other and what our community needs. Columbus Navigator will be hosting a conversation at Kollektiv from 10am-12pm on media in Columbus and how we can continue to stay connected in a growing city. Spots are very limited - sign up here! ❀️

Happy Monday! Chelsea here.

People. Can we just spend a minute or two gushing about how fantastically wonderful the weather was this weekend? Honestly. I don't think I've ever been happier in my entire life. The skies were blue, the breeze was marvelous... I just can't get over it. I spent 99% of my weekend outside, including a visit to an awesome new mural downtown. I'm sure by now you all know about the Columbus Love Mural. You know, the one that says Columbus during the day but lights up to say Love at night? That Instagram dream!

But there's a new addition to the area called the Columbus Color Wall. It's technically 4 murals all in one, and it's a great place to snap the perfect gram. Take a look at this and tell me it doesn't make you feel happy, I dare you! πŸ“ΈπŸŽ¨

The Columbus Police just got some new canine officers, and they're all about spreading the love. The new Therapy Dog Unit is hoping to make a big impact around the city. I got to meet the dogs and their handlers to hear about their mission. Spoiler alert: There are cute dog photos ahead.

There are a lot of reasons to come to Columbus Yoga Festival next month, and you're going to be into all of them. Peaceful and tranquil setting? Check. Amazing vendors and classes? Check, again.

Talking Points ❀️

Totally Reasonable Response πŸ’Έ

HB 6, the nuclear bailout bill that passed after millions of dollars of dark money political ads and donations, is now up against a consumer advocacy group trying to put a referendum on the 2020 ballot. The response from pro HB 6 interests is a television ad campaign heavy on "community China" imagery. Really.

More On Fireproof 🍽

We reviewed Fireproof last week, and more reviews are rolling in. Here's Lakes and Lattes, with tons of great food and drink photos. Put this place on your to do list, it's definitely worth checking out.

Climate Change & Ohio Children πŸ”₯

A new report from the Ohio Environmental Council and Policy Matters Ohio points out the fact that climate change is hazardous to Ohio children's health. Air quality in Ohio cities is a particularly undercovered story - 6 of the 20 "most challenging places to live with asthma" are in Ohio, according to the Asthma and Allergy Foundation. There's much more to the report, and it's a very accessible and quick read.

More Money For Affordable Housing 🏑

The conveyance fee, a charge sellers pay when they transfer their property, is going to increase in Franklin County by $1 per $1000 and is expected to raise $65 million in the next decade. The money will go to Central Ohio Community Land Trust in an effort to hold down housing prices in developing neighborhoods, as well as a county housing magnet fund which will build housing near transit and employment centers.
