Loads of local restaurant news, plus your weekly events guide. πππ²

Hello Monday. It's James.
I try to eat locally when I can, but one of my great frustrations when it comes to chains is that Columbus still hasn't landed a Shack Shack. It is a daily pain that I just have to live with, at least until that future day comes when they announce a central Ohio location.
But for now, Preston's
.
Preston's is a pop-up that has been located at Three Sheets, but will now be moving to Woodlands Backyard in Grandview at the end of April. The Shack Shack comparison does seem fair given the devoted following they have quickly amassed. This is a place I need to check out.

Around Town πThe Republican primary for governor has gotten surprisingly ugly, surprisingly fast. Mike DeWine has posted tweets calling for Mary Taylor to be locked up (due to a travel funds ethics breach), and now he's calling her a liar in his newest ad, while touting himself as a "rock-sold conservative". [Dispatch/Ludlow]Ohio State's synchronized swimming team won their 31st (!) national title on Saturday. [Eleven Warriors]A new pilot program is aiming to move low income mothers out of precarious living situations and into the suburbs, with the philosophy that a geographical cure can work in situations where the "low opportunity" neighborhoods (their phrasing) might be years or decades away from seeing positive change. They are looking to place families into two bedroom apartments in the Hilliard, Dublin, Olentangy and Gahanna school districts, on bus lines. [Columbus Underground]
