Hello, Wednesday! Chelsea here.
It’s my favorite time of year, my friends! Morel season is upon us, and if you’ve never experienced the pure joy of finding these elusive little mushrooms in the wild, you’re missing out. There’s a lot of good food to be foraged in Ohio, but in my personal opinion, nothing comes close to the morel. They’re earthy, meaty, and packed with flavor. The best part? They aren’t always too hard to find! Morels love to pop up in moist, wooded areas, especially around dead or dying trees. But don’t be surprised if you find them in unexpected places. Last year, I spotted a few growing right in my own yard. If you’re new to foraging, don’t worry. It just takes a little patience, a keen eye, and a good pair of walking shoes. And once you find your first morel, I promise, you’ll be hooked.
