Worst Day Ever: Semi Hits Bridge On Olentangy Trail ๐Ÿš›๐Ÿš›๐Ÿš›

Columbus Navigator Logo

Welcome to Friday. It's James.

The next time you're having a bad day, I want you to think back to what you're about to see, and remember that life will throw many challenges at you, but odds are good you probably aren't going to hit a bridge after mistakenly driving a tractor trailer onto the Olentangy Trail.

Which I personally find comforting.

Chelsea is very afraid of haunted houses, but also very brave, and so she visited the 13th Floor Haunted House for all of our benefit. We have both an article detailing the experience as well as a very good highlight video which you should watch so that her terrifying experience doesn't go to waste.

The events schedule this week was actually a little light, but there are some standouts happening this weekend.

 โ“

This is extremely scientific, so trust the process and see what your next day trip should look like.

7 Things To Know โค๏ธ

  1. This will be the most expensive governor's race in Ohio history. Mike DeWine has raised over $24 million, while Richard Cordray is at $14 million. Saturday will see us one month from election day (register or check your existing registration here). [WOSU/Ingles] ๐Ÿ’ธ

  2. Look at this very good Ohio cow happily riding in the backseat (yes) of a pickup truck. [Facebook] ๐Ÿฎ

  3. Marysville and Honda demonstrated a new "smart intersection" yesterday. You can watch video of it in action here (skip to 3:00-ish if you just want to get to the action.) Cameras mounted above the intersection's traffic lights will pick up activity such as pedestrians entering the intersection or someone running a red light and send warning signals to connected cars. [WOSU/Evans] ๐Ÿš˜

  4. The Blue Jackets opened their season last night with an OT win over Detroit. They return to Columbus tonight for their home opener and here's a season preview for what looks to be another playoff run. ๐Ÿ’

  5. 614orty-Niner checks out Bexley Coffee Shop, which certainly deserves the publicity. [614orty-Niner] โ˜•๏ธ

  6. I'm really enjoying the All Columbus Data's new week in review series where Jon (our newest Columbus Navigator writer!) looks at different Columbus stats - this week we learn about 2018 violent crime numbers as well as the fact that 2018 has been the third wettest year in Columbus' recorded history. [All Columbus Data] ๐ŸŒง

  7. Friday Weather: 71 ๐ŸŒก and cloudy, with a chance of showers, mostly after 5 PM. โ˜๏ธ๐ŸŒงโ˜”๏ธ

We learned yesterday that we are just

from seeing these driverless shuttles on the streets of Columbus. Cute, yeah? I'm very much looking forward to taking in the Scioto Mile in one of these things.
