These are the best holiday light displays in Columbus πŸŽ„

Hello Friday. It's James.

Everyone knows about Wildlights, but light displays don't start and end at the Zoo. We have done the Alum Creek State Park drive through lights, and say whatever you want about Christmas kitsch, it's amazing. Highly recommend, especially if you don't feel like braving the cold with small children.

And that's just one - if you have kids (or if you just love Christmas lights, I'm not judging) this list will have you loaded down with options for light viewing between now and Christmas.

Around Town 🏘Democratic gubernatorial candidate Nan Whaley wants to make community college free in Ohio, pointing to Tennessee's free community colleges as a model. She also wants to enact a five cent tax on all opiate prescriptions, as a way to β€œclean up the mess [drug companies] created.” Whaley says she is confident the drug companies would not pass the tax on to consumers citing prior cases where the state became involved with consumer protection (road salt price gouging and natural gas company collusion.) [Dispatch/Schladen]Mayor Ginther announced the end of the controversial "community safety initiative" as well as a review of police. The initiative saw increased neighborhood policing, which included plain clothes officers. It's fairly plausible to say this went a long way towards increasing friction between the community and police following the killing of Henry Green by plain clothed police. One plan going forward is increased foot patrols, which was proposed by Fraternal Order of Police and the NAACP. [WOSU]A Wendy's in Clintonville has been turned into a test location, with open seating, printed menus, and self serve ordering kiosks. It also has an outdoor patio with twinkle lights, outdoor couches, and twinkle lights.(!) [WOSU]

Picture of the Day πŸŽ„Butch Bando's Festival of Lights opens November 17th. Unique doesn't really begin to describe it. Very high quality family tradition, and while Wildlights is great, sometimes with kids it can be a lifesaver to do something chill and avoid the crowds. (πŸ“·: alexcraig63)
