Happy Friday, it's James.

It's the unofficial start of summer, and Columbus is celebrating with one of the busiest weekends of the year.

There's Asian Festival, outdoor movies, an ice cream festival, Memorial Day parades and activities, and so much more. There's a small chance of rain Saturday and Sunday, but overall it looks like the weather will be cooperating, so get out there and have fun.

Friday Weather 🌑88, sunny, and we have an air quality alert. β˜€οΈ

Navigator Originals βœοΈSave The Crew Pens Letter To Future New Owner βš½οΈWe are in the homestretch on whatever is going to happen with the Crew and Save The Crew efforts have been turned to 11. This pre-emptive letter points out that a new local owner would immediately experience a windfall of incredibly loyal support from fans who have endured this experience.Car2Go Is Pulling Out Of Columbus πŸš™Car2Go announced they are shutting down Columbus operations, citing a lack of adoption from local residents. Could be, but I'm skeptical given they also shut down in Toronto yesterday, over a parking bill passed by Toronto council. I find this interesting given Columbus City Council also just passed a new parking ordinance, mandating drivers have to move their cars every 72 hours or face fines. NIMBY-ism Will Kill Columbus Growth And Contribute To Skyrocketing Rents If Allowed πŸ’Victorian Village residents are upset over the size of a Kaufman development. Similar anti-density movements in other cities have led to spiraling rents and home prices. In recent history, this has been the type of thing only tier 1 cities like New York and San Francisco have had to deal with, but the Short North may see more and more of it going forward.

Around Town 🏘Bloomberg visits Adams County in southern Ohio to ask the question "Why Do Americans Stay When Their Town Has No Future?" Two coal plants in the county are shutting down this summer, altering the economic landscape there permanently, and Bloomberg shadows workers as they decide whether to stay (despite there being no jobs to move to) or leave. [Bloomberg]Most Ohio drivers either have a deer collision story or know someone else who does, but this is different: a northeastern Ohio man hit a black bear on the Ohio turnpike last Friday, totaling his car. [News 5 Cleveland]Three Columbus restaurants make this list of the most unusual places to eat in Ohio. [OnlyInYourState]The Ohio GOP is a mess: the former Speaker of the House was just raided by the FBI, they can't agree on who the next Speaker should be, causing a work stoppage that stretches back to April 11th, and the leader of a conservative pro-gun group called John Kasich (!) a "radical gun control militant" during a "red flag" law hearing Thursday. The law would allow family members to alert law enforcement that a person is an "extreme risk", allowing their guns to be seized for up to two weeks before a court hearing. [Dispatch/Daugherty]
