Happy Friday! Chelsea here.
Did this week fly by, or is it just me? Seriously, it feels like we
just
had a Friday newsletter! Whether I'm ready for it or not, I guess it's the weekend. There's a lot going on and it seems like the weather may actually cooperate. Insanity, right? Since we're losing an hour of sleep this weekend, it's probably a good time to treat yourself to a cocktail or two. Don't want to spend a ton? Don't worry. I've got you! πΉ

Celebrate the women in your life by treating them to some delicious beer (or a delicious cocktail) at Wolf's Ridge Brewing. They're hosting an awesome event that benefits YWCA Columbus. And just so I have your attention, it involves 425 lbs of strawberries! π
Talking Points β€οΈ
Checking in on the Crew practice facility β½οΈπΈ
slated to be built at their current stadium location is wild. The biggest revelation is that state fairgrounds officials weren't consulted about the plan even though they control the land via a lease that runs through 2023. We also learn that, even though the deal was sold as a way to keep the stadium from falling into disrepair, the stadium land is required to be returned to the state in original condition in the event of the Crew moving to a new location, making that an unnecessary concern. Waiting and seeing how this plays out is probably wise, but it's all a little strange.
One More Step For Gas Tax β½οΈπΈ
The Ohio House passed the
of Mike DeWine's gas tax. If it passes the Ohio Senate, the tax will be implemented over two years. The bill also imposes new registration fees on electric and hybrid vehicles, eliminates the requirement that cars use front license plates, places new restrictions on municipalities that use traffic light cameras for enforcement, and regulates e-scooters (more permissively than some cities like Columbus have done).
A Dubious Ranking πΈ
Ohio
according to this article discussing a plan by Governor DeWine to double the amount of state funding. 37 out of 88 counties in Ohio have no tax levy to fund children's services, and even the counties that do have tax levies don't produce much money from them according to DeWine.
Weather
π‘
40, but you can expect a lot of clouds and possibly some snow and/or rain. Columbus is feeling temperamental today, as usual. π¦
