Happy Friday! Chelsea here.
Who's ready for the weekend? ๐โโ๏ธ๐โโ๏ธ๐โโ๏ธI know I certainly am. I'm super excited because not only are there lots of fun things happening around town, I actually have some free time to get out and enjoy it! It's a "see where the wind blows me" type of weekend and I couldn't be more thrilled. I only have one thing I'm doing for sure this weekend and that's going to The Little Mermaid to see Nina West in the role of Ursula, aka the role she was born to play. Still need some ideas for yourself? As usual, we've got you covered. ๐๐ผ

What if I told you there was a place where people with zero flying skills could learn how to pilot a commercial airliner? Would you be excited? Because I'm pretty excited about it. Take Flight Ohio has some super awesome simulation packages, and all of them keep you safely on the ground.

Looking for something fun to do this weekend? Stop by The Rooms@Easton, a new popup exhibit by COSI. Tracie took her tribe to check it out earlier this week.

Seriously. How do we get a cool treehouse village like this here in Columbus? It's one of the most ambitious projects I've ever seen at a Metropark and I can't wait to get up to Toledo and check it out.
Talking Points โค๏ธ
Towards A Free COTA ๐
Transportation is in the headlines lately, at least partially because of the
that was proposed Thursday. Ohio's public transit spending
and gas tax money can't be used to increase transit funding - a rule that is actually in our state constitution. Columbus city leaders haven't been much better when discussing public transportation lately, playing the issue extremely conservatively and seeming to rely entirely on an autonomous driving future. Rob Moore, in Columbus Alive, proposes something that seems audacious but would be surprisingly cheap:
. Ticket costs only fund 1/5th of COTA right now anyway, and total cost to eliminate ticketing fees would run about $25 million a year. A bargain compared to most mass transit proposals.
The Best Mexican Restaurant You've Never Heard Of ๐ฎ๐ฏ
Is close-by, in Lithopolis,
. I was sold well before the end of the article, but if I had still been on the fence the churro sandwich would have clinched it.
Close Call ๐
The Blue Jackets were on national television earlier this week, and
with one of the NBC announcers. Yikes. Could have been much uglier.
Flipping Getting Harder? ๐ก
Realtor.com
for "cities where house flipping is down the most". That's a mouthful. The Columbus market has had tight inventory for years, and Realtor.com theorizes much of the low hanging fruit has been plucked. The local real estate market cooled slightly heading into fall 2018, but anecdotally I'm hearing it's picking back up heading into spring, with multiple offers on homes in desirable areas coming in within days of listing. Even if we have a slowdown or recession, I wonder how much Columbus will be affected given the overall deficit in housing supply.
