In ❤️ with the Short North Circus House? Check this out.

Columbus Navigator Logo

Happy Friday, it's Tracie.

Most of you know the "Circus House," it's adjacent to Goodale Park and serves as a good landmark when looking for Victorian Village parking, i.e. if you have to park too close to the Circus, you likely didn't get a very good parking space. 🏰

Originally owned by the Sells family, responsible for one of the largest traveling circus organizations in the United States (hence the nickname), the new owners have listed the carriage house for rent on airbnb. And, just like Britney Spears would say, "all eyes on me, in the center of the ring," is a good way to describe the updates.

Friday Weather 🌡Chance of showers before lunchtime Friday, high of 42.  Wet weekend ahead.

Navigator Originals ✏️A Reminder That Rob Portman is Wholly Owned by the NRA While it's a divisive time in our country (and the world) I think the one thing we can all agree on is that even one school shooting is too many. And to have that discussion without broaching the topic of gun control would be remiss. It's important for those on both sides of the aisle to take a look at who is funding their representative, and at what cost. 💰Roaming Goat Coffee is Making the Leap from Wholesaler to Retailer in the Short NorthAfter several successful years in the wholesale business, Roaming Goat 🐐 opened its brick and mortar store officially in December of last year. And if you're looking to shop local, it's the place to go. Local artists will hold monthly exhibitions, dairy from Snowville Creamery, and treats from Pattycake Bakery. Coffee, art, and dessert? What more could you ask for? Navigator Weekender: The 15 Best Things to do This WeekendFebruary will be over before we know it, seriously, there are only 12 days left and then it will be the THIRD MONTH of 2018. For real. But, on the upside, there are still plenty of cool things to do in our city this month, including a Nintendo64 Mario Kart tournament (but, call me when they start a Duck Hunt version). 🦆

Around Town 🏘A 17 year old transgender student in Hamilton County, Ohio, has been placed in his grandparents care, following his parents refusal to allow him access to his hormone therapy medications. As a pediatrician quoted in the article says, we wouldn't be denying medical treatment to a child with diabetes or asthma, what a shame this teenager is being denied the treatment he needs. [CNN]Here's your daily dose of GOOD news: A charity inspired by the terrorist attacks of 9/11 has paid off the mortgage for fallen Westerville police officer Eric Joering's family home. Frank Siller of the Tunnel to Towers foundation said, "It's so senseless that you can't explain it," said Siller. "But it is the time you see the greatness of America, the greatness of a community to pull together and help lift a family." [WTHR]And, in news you didn't even know you needed, The Smashing Pumpkins will play the Schott in August of this year. "Cool kids, never have the time..." SO, you better MAKE some time. Tickets are on sale February 23. [10tv]

Longread ⛸I wasn't really planning to watch much of the Olympics this year (I know, for shame!) I'm more of a Summer Olympics kinda gal. But, after watching an interview with figure skater Adam Rippon, I've been tuning in. He's gay, he's out, and he's "old" (which, I mean, No). His drive is inspirational, and he's proving to be a great role model for gay kids in America (or anywhere, really) who are looking to see themselves represented in a meaningful way.  Plus, when Rippon referenced himself as "America's Sweetheart," with a sly grin and wink to the camera, how could you not fall in ❤️. Vanity Fair: The Bittersweet Beauty of Adam Rippon
