The best Columbus development announcements Of 2017 🏗

2017 was a big year for Columbus development. We had may development plans announced that will change the look and feel of the city forever, assuming they all come to successful completion.

Will 2018 be quieter? It's hard to imagine bigger news coming down the pike than the Scioto Peninsula project or the North Market tower, but who knows? While things currently look dire, I do have my fingers crossed for a new soccer stadium ...

Around Town 🏘Some Ohio politicians are calling for investigations into Franklin county taser abuse. The statements from prosecutor Ron O’Brien and the Franklin County Sheriff's office are outrageous, "saying no one officially sought a criminal investigation in the cases" of abuse uncovered by Reuters. O'Brien's office seems to want to pin the blame on lawyers for the inmates for not seeking charges, but the legal group representing the inmates points out it's not an enforcement agency (unlike, say, the Franklin County prosecutor or Sheriff's office.) [Reuters]A railroad bridge in Delaware county between Harris Road and Routes 36/37 has been hit by a semi for the second time in a month. The bridge has a height of 12 feet, 5 inches and apparently gets hit all the time. I am posting this mainly as an excuse to post this video of a compilation of people hitting a famous bridge that is 11 feet 8 inches which is terrific and will make your entire day. If you ever doubt that people are inherently optimistic just remember the hundreds (thousands?) of people driving tall trucks who were pretty sure they could clear this bridge. [Dispatch/Narcisco]When you pass a tax bill as quickly as possible without much time to sort everything out, many weird things happen, including people literally lining up to pre-pay their property taxes early, despite the IRS saying this might not save any money. I expect more things like this to happen while everything gets sorted out, but expect a great deal of confusion when it comes to 2018 taxes. [Dispatch/Zachariah]
