What It’s Like To Open A Bar 30 Days Before COVID-19 Took Off 🍸

Hello, Friday! Chelsea here.

We've arrived at the end of another week in self-isolation. As I reflect back over the past several weeks, I find myself constantly reminded of how although we're all going this pandemic at the same time, our personal experiences vary. Some of us may be balancing working from home while helping kids out with their school day while others are wondering when or if they'll return to work at all. Everyone has a story to tell and I feel immensely grateful to this community that I'm able to help share those stories. Today, writer Kevin Williams shares the experience of one Columbus bar that had just opened its doors before they were forced to close.

Two Ohio prisons are now the worst hot spots in the country, plus Governor DeWine has promised the plan to re-open Ohio will be unveiled on Monday.

Everyone deserves some joy these days, and I've got something that will put a smile on your face. Columbus, meet Jamani, the sweetest little addition to the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium.

 🙌

Not only can you buy the hand sanitizer for yourself, you can also donate bottles through Middle West to first responders across Columbus. Also, I know this is not important in the grand scheme of things, but I love this packaging.

Talking Points ❤️

Rolling Stone photographer Maddie McGarvey spent time in Ohio on March 30th documenting coronavirus and the shutdown, with many of the photos featuring Columbus.

An Undertaking 👟

Nearly everyone is taking more walks lately, and an interesting idea I have seen in a few places is to explore your part of the world in a more thorough way than you might usually. I don't know if it's necessary to get as hardcore as the link below, but it's intriguing to think of visiting every street where you are - whether that's all of a subdivision, a neighborhood, or even a town/city.

Not Just Food Banks 💊

Charity goes further than food & money - Charitable Pharmacy of Central Ohio dispensed $590,000 worth of medications last year between March 12 - April 12. This year? $2.4 million. More on the effort and the need at the link below.

Today's Photo 🤳

Glacier Ridge is looking awfully beautiful. Anyone else trying to make their way around the metro parks right now? It's been interesting seeing which ones are crowded and which are quieter. Exploring some new (to me) parks has been a mental break for me lately, but I still need to get to Glacier Ridge. 🌳
