👏 Ohio’s First Buc-ee’s Will Officially Open In April
Ohio’s first Buc-ee’s is opening in Huber Heights this spring, featuring 120 gas pumps, 700 parking spaces, and a full lineup of snacks and merchandise. I didn’t fully understand the hype around Buc-ee’s until I went to one in Kentucky last year. Now I have to say, I totally get it.
Headlines 📰
🌨️ With winter weather approaching, cities and businesses across central Ohio are dealing with a significant salt shortage, with prices more than doubling and supplies harder to find. Crews say the combination of repeated snow events, limited production, and extreme cold is making it harder to keep roads treated and conditions safe. (NBC4)
🌳 Viral social media posts are warning about “exploding trees,” but experts say the phenomenon, known as frost cracks, is real and usually limited to loud cracking sounds rather than trees actually bursting apart. While it can happen during extreme cold, temperatures in Ohio are not expected to get cold enough for this to be a concern. (Dispatch)
💸 Columbus finally received $4.24 million in cannabis tax revenue from the state, money owed since recreational weed sales began in 2024. Officials say it could fund housing, education, and human services, but exact plans are still being worked out. (Matter News)
🌤️ Weather: 40 and mostly sunny

🦦 The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium is closed for the weekend due to the weather, but if you need motivation to head up soon, just take a look at these adorable river otters! They’re as cute as they are mischievous, having just returned from a “temporary timeout” that was needed to make some repairs to their enclosure.
